Centre for Chronic Disease Control is a
New Delhi-based not-for-profit organization, registered as a society
under the Societies Registration Act in December 2001.
Mission
- Knowledge generation, which can inform policies and empower
programmes for the prevention and control of chronic diseases
- Knowledge translation intended to operationalize research
results by bridging the critical gaps between relevant research and
effective implementation, through analytic work, capacity building,
advocacy and development of educational resources for enhancing the
empowerment of people and professionals.
Objectives
- To promote applied health research, as relevant to the
prevention and control of chronic diseases
- To promote the formulation and inter-sectoral integration
of policies
- To promote community empowerment through health education
and enhancement of skills required for effective community
participation in programmes
- To build capacity for health research, policy development
and analysis, programme development and implementation through training
programmes
- To develop, evaluate and advocate cost-effective modes of
chronic disease risk reduction, including evidence-based,
context-specific and resource-sensitive clinical algorithms
- To assist national and international health agencies in the
development, implementation and monitoring of programmes
- To play an advocacy role to mobilise support in various
sections of the community for multi-sectoral actions
- Establishing and maintaining a data bank of information
obtained from various published and unpublished sources on epidemiology
of chronic diseases in India and other developing countries

- It functions as the Scientific Secretariat for the
Initiative for Cardiovascular Health Research in Developing Countries (IC Health)
- It functions as the National Coordinating Centre for:

- STICH Study
- Sentinel Surveillance Study
- Indian Migrant Study
- It provides technical assistance to:
- Andhra Pradesh Rural Health Initiative (APRHI)
- Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project of the World Bank
